In the Gospel of John, Jesus speaks powerfully about being the "bread of life." He tells His followers that eating His flesh and drinking His blood is necessary for eternal life. This statement caused many disciples to leave, unable to accept it. When He asked the twelve if they would also leave, Peter replied, "Where else would I go? For you have the words of life." This exchange cuts to the heart of my response to the call Jesus has placed on my life here in Bedford, Where else would I go?
Home: A Place of Comfort and Growth
Growing up in Bedford shaped my perspective in significant ways. Like many, I once dreamed of escaping my small town. I've traveled overseas, building churches and sharing the gospel—experiences that changed my life tremendously. Yet, no matter where I wandered, Bedford always pulled me back. In fact, after visiting over five countries, I realized there is no place like the place God has planted you.
Bedford is where God has planted me, and continues to grow and refine me.
Transformative Fridays: A Community Coming Together
Every Friday night, we open our doors to the youth, and I've witnessed many remarkable transformations. On these nights, around 60-100 young people arrive, each carrying their own burdens and anxieties, seeking hope and purpose. I get to see Jesus see them and call them to His plans and purposes for their lives. I see the radiant presence of Jesus at work in each of them.
A Kingdom Commitment: His will
Jesus is the center of my life, and Bedford is more than just a hometown to me; it's where God's promises take root. I genuinely believe we are just at the beginning of something great in this community.
As I embrace God's plan for this community, I'm committed for His kingdom to come and His will being done.
Why I Serve: A Personal Calling
Why do I serve? Why do I keep returning every Friday night? The answer is simple: Jesus transformed my life. Just as He extended grace to me, I want to share that grace with others. I serve not because I have all the answers, but because I know Jesus can give us peace above all understanding. He truly has the words of life.
A Lasting Reflection: Where Else Would I Go?
In a world full of distractions, the question remains: where else would I go? The answer is evident—Jesus, He provides the hope we all seek. For every person entering our community each week, there is a divine opportunity for transformation and a chance to encounter the one who truly gives life.
It is a privilege to walk this journey alongside my community, striving to witness God’s Kingdom come. There is no better place to be than anchored in Christ's truth.
So each Friday night I show up, and I pray I keep answering the call, besides " Where else would I go?"
